MetaMask, a well known provider for Ethereum wallets, is open to launching their own crypto token. The team of MetaMask is working on a so-called ‘’compelling use case’’ for its own token. They said that they are open to the possibility of a token release, but only want to launch the crypto token if it has the previously mentioned ‘’compelling use case’’.
In the course of their first community call, the MetaMask team talked about a potential token release. They explained that they have no immediate plans for a MetaMask token, but that a launch could be happening in the future.
MetaMask’s senior software engineer Erik Marks said to be ‘’absolutely open to the idea of making the project community-owned’’. Nevertheless, the senior software engineer did add some terms. He said that the MetaMask team did not want to create a crypto token “that doesn’t have a use case.”
Erik Marks also expressed his worries about the chance of a pump and dump.: “An ICO would benefit the community because it would immediately pump”, but at the same time he is concerned that many people will sell it, causing a dump.
